Why a Bridge Requires Two Appointments
When you need a dental bridge, you will likely need to schedule two or more appointments until the process is complete. Obtaining a bridge in your mouth is a multiple step process that includes preparing your mouth for the bridge and making sure it will function well. During your initial appointment the neighboring teeth that will support the bridge are prepared for their crowns. During this appointment, an impression will be taken to send to the lab for your bridge to be fabricated. While the bridge is being made in a dental laboratory, you will be fitted with a temporary bridge. Once the permanent bridge is ready, it will be fitted and permanently adhered in your mouth.
